Product Description

Founded in 2016, Tricklebee Cafe is a pay-what-you-can community cafe that offers healthy meals, food service training, and spiritual nourishment in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood. This cookbook is the first of several to come, and has been requested of us for years by our loyal customers.

The Tricklebee staff decided to name the cookbook “One of Everything— Fine Dining in a Food Desert,” because when customers come in to order food, most of them say: “One of everything, please.” By calling it “Fine Dining,” they hint at the quality of the food they prepare each day—truly, some of the best in their city!

Knowing that Kitchen Assistant Julio Nieves has a knack for illustrating, they asked him to illustrate the cookbook. “He began submitting stunning drawings, and before we knew it, he had created a whole vegan pirate adventure world that was begging to be put on the page,” says the Rev. Christie Melby-Gibbons, who leads the Tricklebee ministry. “We dreamed up this idea to release a part of that story with each of our forthcoming cookbook publications.” ‘Pumpkin Boots’ is the first of these, and is included with your purchase of the cookbook. This comic book series also inspired the mural which now graces the western wall of Tricklebee Cafe.

“One of Everything” includes 15 delicious vegan recipes, including Peanut Stew, Curry Tofu Salad, Roasted Cheezy Hummus, along with vegan takes on lasagna, chili Mac and cheeze and samosas. Sprinkled throughout are “Crumby Prayers” written by the Rev. Brian Dixon.

The cookbook is spiral bound, 7-1/2 x 9″, 42 pages, on sturdy coated card stock designed to hold up in the kitchen. The “Pumpkin Boots” comic is printed in full color on glossy stock.

Proceeds from “One of Everything” go to help Tricklebee continue their work in Milwaukee.
